The Adelita raspberry receives good reception at the Fruit Logistica fair in Berlin
15 February

This past 7th, 8th and 9th of February in Berlin the first major event – and one of the most important – for the fruit and vegetable sector took place, the 2018 Fruit Logistica fair.  Present at the fair were 3,077 exhibitors and 76,000 visitors.

As one of the leading companies in the sector, Planasa could not miss this opportunity and participated in this important event with a stand where the Adelita raspberry stood out.

Adelita, high quality and productivity

Planasa launched the Adelita variety in 2012 after intense R & D work that resulted in an important advance in the production approach: for the first time, a variety of raspberries is able to extend its production throughout the winter through a calendar of plantations scheduled throughout the summer. Adelita presents the two classic spring and autumn cycles plus a winter harvest for the crops planted between July and August. This allows the same variety of fruit to be available throughout the production stage. It is the first Primocane that is completely low chilling, without winter standstill, even in cold winters like that of this 2017/18 campaign, making it currently the only Primocane variety that is producing optimally and competitively in southern Europe and northern Africa.

In addition, this remontante variety oriented towards the improvement of the shelf life and to the reduction of production costs, offers raspberries that are large, fleshy and homogenous. Commercial volume (especially in the winter months), flavor, size and excellent post-harvest have made Adelita the Reference in the European raspberry market.

When it comes to harvest, Adelita has a strong cane to hold up the load of fruit, which is distributed in large clusters that are very accessible to the collector. It is advisable to support it with an intense nitrogen fertilization for proper productive development.
