Although avocados are a fruit with many qualities, they aren’t as popular as others because of the widespread misconception that they are not beneficial to our health.

Fortunately, there are more and more avocado advocates who recognize the benefits and advantages of adding them to our daily diet. Because of their high content of folic acid and healthy fatty acids, they are a food product for both athletes and anyone who wants to maintain a healthy and balanced diet.

What is the truth about avocados?

1.- They are a fruit. Although they contain many other nutrients, avocados are a fruit and, as such, they are very beneficial to our health, since they are rich in minerals and vitamins. They are not a vegetable or a root vegetable, as is sometimes claimed.

2.-They do not contain bad fats. As a completely vegetal fruit, their only fats are monounsaturated acids, which help burn harmful fats.

3.- They are low in protein. Proteins make up only 2% of their composition, proving untrue the myth that they provide as much protein as meat.

4.- They have many uses in the kitchen. Although they are most often thought of to make guacamole, or as a salad ingredient, they can also be used in dressings and sauces, desserts or sides dishes.
