Origin: Bred and registered by Darbonne - Inotalis. EU 16286 (10-10-05). Very early variety. Very nice appearance. Main calibre 16/22 mm. For white production. Juicy Flesh.
Genetic characteristic: Hybrid of clones. Plants of this variety have homogeneity, rusticity and are vigorous. Good productivity and commercial quality. Darlise is adapted to nearly all types of soil acceptable for asparagus.
The plant: Darlise is a very early variety. A lack of earliness may appear when chilling requirements are not fulfilled. Plants are vigorous with big volume of vegetation. Good tolerance to stemphylium, low tolerance to rust. Darlise is not susceptible to wind damages.
The spear: Very nice appearance. Straight asparagus, whose main calibre is 16/22 mm. Tips are well closed with white colour when harvested regularly. Skin without fibre, and juicy flesh. Green culture is still being studied.
The profitability*: Density of plantation to optimize yield and commercial quality.

18000 crowns/ha - 4,5 plants per linear meter for light soils in very good soils for intensive crop with drip irrigation.
Potential of production is high if well fertilized. It has great needs of N, P, K oligo elements and water during all the vegetative cycle after harvest. Sanitary protection on foliage must be carefully applied. Adapt harvest period to the plant potential to avoid prejudicing yield the following year. High speed of harvest.
Technical advises: To cultivate Darlise as a very early variety row early with thermic cover during all the harvest period. Darlise may also be cultivated as an early variety: early row with thermic cover in a first time than covered with a black cover in a second time. Darlise could be associated with the nice early variety Darbella under black cover.
