Origin: Bred and registered by Planasa - Inotalis. EU 1292 (4-09-00). Early variety.Recommended for white and green asparagus. Excellent commercial presentation. Middle-thick calibre. Good adaptation to temperate and warm climatic conditions.

Genetic characteristics: Hybrid of clones. Plants are very homogeneous, vigorous and rustic. Commercial and quality criteria are well reached. Placosesp is a rustic variety that can be cultivated in different texture soils.

Plant: Plants of this variety are not especially high, but they branch at a high height and therefore there are not problems because of fungus caused diseases. It adapts as much to temperate climates as to warmer conditions as those observed at Guadalquivir valley (Height: 30m; Latitude: 37º N; Longitude: 5º W). Good adaptation to white and green culture.
This variety is not affected by wind.

The asparagus: Excellent commercial presentation. Very straight high quality spears, with closed tips. Placosesp have medium lo large spears diameters. Tender epidermis and spears flesh.

Profitability*: Placosesp yields are very high; a great percentage of the spears harvested are top quality. Early variety. More than 90% of the yield has diameters of over 12mm.
This variety is suitable for growing both white and green asparagus.

Technical advice:
Density of plantation advised for white asparagus is around 20.000 plants per hectare, covering the beds with black plastic. For green asparagus, density can be increased up to 22.000 crowns per hectare. Beds should have a medium height and not be done too late in order not to damage production.
