PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES
Regular pruning: Choosing high quality flowering shoot is easy due to the growth habit of the trees. Remove any new vigorous shoots during the picking season to allow better light penetration in the canopy and better fruit colour. Summer pruning the trees after harvest will improve the quality of the fruiting branches for the next year. However, this pruning should not be too severe at the same time irrigation should be reduced to avoid secondary shoot growth.
Fruit thinning: The fruit should be picked once the new fruits are well set. Too early fruit thinning or in bad weather could result in a sub-standard yield, and low production.
