Planasa’s subsidiary in France, Planasa France, and Priméale, a subsidiary of the Agrial group, have signed a collaboration agreement whereby Priméale will become the exclusive sales partner for fresh asparagus, mainly white kind, for the next three seasons (2021-2023).

Planasa France cultivates 170 hectares of different varieties, mainly Darzilla, with which they expect to produce 700 tons of white asparagus. This asparagus is marketed under the brands names Domaine Saint Jacques and Priméale and they are sold through the main retailers in France.

The agreement was signed by Frederic Faillieres, Business Manager for Northern Europe and Operations Manager in France, and Siebrand Broens, Planasa’s Sales Manager for Fresh Produce in EMEA. On behalf of Priméale, there was the Sales and Marketing Manager por Les Essentiels, Christophe Charvieux.

For Planasa’s commercial managers this agreement means “collaborating with the largest agricultural cooperative in France in terms of fresh vegetables and fresh asparagus specifically, concentrating the supply of the asparagus market and creating more value in the production chain. It is also a desire to join the two main French growers’ associations (Maïsadour and Copadax) to build complementariness. Priméale is going to help us not only to enhance the value of our asparagus varieties and our role as breeders, but also to promote our “Domaine Saint Jacques” brand and our HVE (Haute Valeur Environmentale) certification”.
